6 Things To Keep You Cool This Summer In Harford County

Written By Guest Blogger

It’s The Height Of Summer And There’s So Much Going On In Harford County, MD.

The temperatures might be climbing (along with the humidity), but there’s plenty of things to do to help you keep cool. Whether it’s experiencing our region’s exceptional nature, getting together with friends for a tasty, cold beverage, or even hunt down a delicious treat, there’s something for everyone in Harford County. Here’s a list of our favorite things to do when it’s hot enough to fry a crab cake on the sidewalk.

Take A Hike

Did you know that temperatures in the shade can feel as much as 10-15 degrees cooler? Luckily, Harford County is home to over 6,000 acres of state parkland, which means lots of shade. So get some shade, hike through a park, dip your toes in the Bay, or float down a stream.

Tour A Winery

There are a number of interesting wineries in Harford County, many of which offer inexpensive tastings. There’s Mount Felix Wines with views of the Bay, the Italian-inspired Fiore Winery, and the bucolic Harford Vineyard and Winery.

Kick Back With A Beer

If wine isn’t your style, then perhaps you’d prefer a cold, frosty beer? The craft brewing movement has taken the country by storm, and Harford County is no slouch in this department. There are lots of breweries in the area to choose from, many of which have a full service restaurant or food truck, along with a variety of interesting brews on tap. Check out Falling Branch Beer’s outdoor beer garden, Slate Farm Brewery’s farm tour, or Independent Brewing Company’s huge selection of on tap creations. If you want to try some small batch craft beer and then try to make your own, check out AleCraft Brewery where they have a taproom and homebrew supply shop.

Grab A Tasty Treat

There’s really nothing more refreshing than a nice, cold ice cream cone on a hot summer day. And Harford County is home to some amazing local creameries with mind-bogglingly delicious cream concoctions. Some of our favorites include Bomboy’s, Broom’s Bloom Dairy, and the cleverly named A Chance of Flurries.

Cool Off On The Ice

Ice World isn’t the name of some weird theme park, but rather the region’s top ice skating rink! Whether it’s your first time strapping on skates or you want to live out your winter Olympics fantasies, ice skating is an excellent way to get out of the heat.

Enjoy A Ball Game

What would summer be without baseball? It wouldn’t be summer, that’s for sure. Lucky for us, we have a minor league team right here in Harford County. And many of their games are played at night, so you can be sure it’ll be at least a little cooler than during the day. Check out their upcoming games here.
