5 Tips for Better Skin This Winter

Written By Morgan Knox

If we have learned one thing over the past year, it’s that self-care is SO important. Self care is about taking care of our bodies both inside and out. We teamed up with Chloe Corkran, a local aesthetician who owns The Glow Bar to find out what her top 5 most important tips were for taking care of our skin in the winter. These are small tips that will make a big difference!

  1. – Switch out your skincare products. With each season we experience a different climate, so our skin will be reacting differently. Typically in the colder months we want to use products that are more hydrating. That could be switching to a creamy cleanser or a thicker moisturizer!

  2. – Don’t blast the heat! It’s an instinct to turn up the heat as soon as it gets cold but be mindful. Blasting the heat in your home or car will dry out the air, then dry out your skin. Adding a humidifier to your house will help a lot!

  3. – Stay hydrated! Drinking more water throughout the day will not only hydrate you on the inside but also the outside. Don’t like water? Try adding some lemon or fruit, it will make a difference!

  4. – Limit shower time + temperature. I know a lot of us like to take long hot showers after a long day but did you know that could be a main cause of dry skin? Try limiting your shower to 5-10 minutes and use lukewarm water. I promise this will help!

  5. – Go and see your local aesthetician to get a professional treatment! In the winter our skin is often dull, so I recommend a professional facial about every three to four weeks. That’s how long it takes your skin to move through the full life cycle of skin cell growth. When you see a professional we are able to use more powerful products than you can use at home. We will be able to deep clean your skin and give you the hydrated glowy skin you’ve always wanted.
