A Horse And A School Changing Lives

The same patch of land 36 years later where the Preakness winner, Deputed Testamony once grazed continues to change lives today. Not the Boniface family but over 100 children every year. It is the home of the Highlands School, a unique K-12 academy catering to students with learning challenges like dyslexia and ADHD. The Highlands mission states, “we instill hope and confidence in our students by fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment. The 2019 Darlington Apple Festival

The Darlington Apple Festival has always been a celebration of the character and pride of the Darlington Community. Each year the festival has grown with new attractions, and new organizations joining in the participation. MD State BBQ Bash

One of Harford County MD’s most anticipated events of the year is the MD State BBQ Bash. The BBQ Bash has been named as Harford County’s “Best Event” 2012 – 2016. It is a barbecue themed street festival featuring the Maryland State BBQ Championship, with more than 50 competition teams from the Mid-Atlantic area competing for $12,500 in cash prizes and the chance to compete in the annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, TN and The American Royal in Kansas City, MO. In addition, more than 40 amateur teams will compete in the MD State BBQ Bash Tailgate Challenge to see who has the best ribs while competing for cash, prizes, and bragging rights.

Summer Swim League Championships

Chris Bley, a former swimer in the league, coach of the Bel Air Athletic Club team and Executive Member of the HSL Board shared his thoughts about the uniqueness of this event, “the HSL Champs are unlike any other sport championships. Whether you are the best swimmer or a developing one, you have a chance to compete and possibly finish in the top 36 places earning a medal in each of the events. This two-day event was established in the early 1980s to recognize the kids and the sport and the league has been around for just about 50 years.
