Old Quarry/Gunpowder Falls State Park

Several well marked trails for hiking and bikes. Family & pet friendly. The most advanced trail of the bunch will lead you to the top of a cliff with excellent forest and farm views. Gravel lots for parking are right off of Belair Road. Trailheads and exits are visible from the lot.

Susquehanna State Park

Trail difficulty ranges from easy to moderately difficult. Kayaking, biking, hiking, camping, and picnicking are all popular amongst the park. There are eight trails total. The Conowingo Dam section is a worth a visit, with plenty of parking nearby. Beware of the vultures that will sit on your vehicle! Excellent area for spotting bald eagles. Breathtaking water views on several of the trails.

Rocks State Park

The famous “King and Queen Seat” is the highlight of the park. With breathtaking views of the forest below, the 190-foot rocky cliff towers above Deer Creek. This spot is very popular during Autumn months for views of the color-changing leaves. There are multiple sections of the park, with the main section offering picnic areas, over three miles of hiking trails, and access to Deer Creek for swimming or tubing.

Ma & Pa Trails

There are several sections of Bel Air’s Ma & Pa trail worth checking out. Great views of the grassy countryside throughout. The Edgeley Grove Section offers over 800 feet of a boardwalk to explore the surrounding forest. Family & pet friendly with plenty of parking.

Harford Glen

Although it is only open to the public when school is not in session, these hiking trails are worth visiting for the plethora of wildlife and views of the Atkisson Dam. There are five trails total, ranging from one to four miles long.
