The Tea Trolley: From Closing Its Doors to a Second Chance at Tradition

Written By Morgan Knox

For more than fifteen years, The Tea Trolley has been a cherished gathering place where families come together, celebrate milestones, and create lasting memories. In the spring of 2025, the owner Rachael, announced that she would be closing the tearoom and heading back across the pond to be with her family in England. What many families feared would be the end of a beloved tradition instead found new life with a much-needed second wind.

Background: At just the age of sixteen, Rachael moved to America to start her job as a nanny. She went on to attend college, meet her husband, and jump start her professional career in the hotel business. When Rachael and her husband decided to grow her family, she took on a new role in her very own catering business, The Tea Trolley.

“We originally were taking teas to people, so The Tea Trolley name fit,” Rachael told us.

The business was flourishing and the next step was to find a permanent location for the business that was near where her family lived. In 2009, they purchased the grand Victorian home where the Tea Trolley sits today and still features the original columns, floors, and grand staircase from when the house was built.

When you enter The Tea Trolley, you take a step back into time to enjoy your English tea with friends and family.

As someone who grew up attending baby showers, afternoon teas, birthday lunches, you name it, at The Tea Trolley, the thought of this business closing its doors deeply sadden me and my family.

“What we do here is special. Most people when they come here aren’t rushing out to get something to eat,” Rachael stated. “They are coming because they are celebrating a birthday, a shower. You know there were so many people that told me when we said we were leaving over the last few months how we have been a part of so many memories. And that has really touched me.”

Since announcing the closing of their doors, another local business has stepped up and purchased the business to keep Rachael’s legacy and traditions alive. Former owners of Eats & Sweets, The Borkoski Family, announced on Facebook that they were going to be “continuing the legacy.” The post reads as follows:

We’re so excited to finally share that as of October 1st, we will be taking over The Tea Trolley in Delta, PA — continuing the beautiful legacy that Rachael has built over the past 15 years!

We’re honored to step into this next chapter and look forward to welcoming you for tea. We will also be hosting the beloved Harvest Tea on October 25th, so stay tuned for ticket information and other upcoming events.

We’re incredibly grateful for the love and support our community has shown us over the past ten years. It has truly meant the world!

If you’d like to stay in touch, please follow The Tea Trolley on Facebook — we’d love to have you with us on this journey.

With love and gratitude,

The Borkoski Family

A business that means so much to community members will still be thriving and giving families and friends a place to continue to create those memories over afternoon tea.

If you and your family are looking for a place to celebrate your next occasion, visit The Tea Trolley and create memories to last a lifetime.
