- Bel Air earned 11 of the previous 12 Harford Co baseball championships. Jack McCracken’s Bobcats beat Havre De Grace 8-2 on the strength Craig Halsey’s pitching. Halsey earned his 8th win and had 8 strike outs to beat the Warriors.
- HCC named Kathy Fox Best All Around Female Athlete. Fox played field hockey, basketball, and softball. She beat out All JUCO Field hockey and basketball player Liz Panos.
- Creswell Market’s Tim Tidwell averaged 21.96 mph to win the Artic Circle Bicycle Race. The top three finishers on the 10 mile race were 1) Tidwell 2) David Hooper, Tri State Trophies; 3) Jim Kaidy, Lutz’s Appliance.
- HCC’s Paul Dubyoski won the National JUCO Championship in the javelin throw. Remarkably, Dubyoski was only in his 2nd year throwing javelin, as it was not a sponsored event in Maryland High Schools.
- Bel Air 11-12 Cubs beat the Yankees 11-0. Pitcher Ted Zook threw a no-hitter and hit 3 home runs.
