Two local football coaches went head-to-head at the Harford County Tennis Open Championships held at Maryland Golf and Country Clubs. HCC Football coach Jack Nichols and his partner Bob Zaeh defeated former Bel Air Football coaching legend Al Cesky and his partner Ed Ward 6-3, 6-2.

The Maryland Golf and Country Clubs swim team finished 57 points ahead of the field in the Central Maryland Swimming Championships in Glen Burnie. MGCC was led by multiple event winners, Amy Stratton, Jane Purvis, Ned Rogers, Elizabeth and Gary Simmeth.

Joe Stewart of Bel Air won the shot put at the Governor’s Track and Field Championships in Cumberland. Stewart had a throw of 44′ 2″ to beat the 2nd place finisher from Rockville by 8″.

Former John Carroll QB Al Neville was cut by the Baltimore Colts. Neville was a 3 year starter for the University of Maryland.
