- The National Federation of Coaches Association named Fallston High School Field Hockey coach Alice Puckett coach of the year.
- The Harford Hurricanes played host to the Chesapeake and Potomac League Swimming Championships. Apparently, ‘home pool’ advantage was really at work as the Hurricanes qualified all 24 swimmers for nationals at Rutgers University.
- North Harford’s Steven Conrad ended the Hawk’s 20 year state wrestling championship drought. He became NH’s 5th state champion since the MPSSAA’s 1st State Tournament in 1973, which was won by Bel Air who crowned two champions that year
- Local boxer Hasim Rahman from Bel Air signed to face undisputed Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis in Johannesburg, South Africa. Rahman was 34-2 with 10 knockouts.
- The Harford Chiefs junior hockey team kept the undefeated streak, started in 1998, alive by finishing 15-0. The Chiefs beat the Hershey Bears 8-2 at Ice World for their 4th undefeated season.
