  • Andrew Preston, a rising freshman from North Harford Middle School was named Brine Lacrosse Player of the Year for his age group.  Andrew attended North Harford High School.
  • Local runner Dave Stevenson won the Gunpowder Neck 10 miler on June 20, then the Cherry Hill 5 miler the next day. Both victories came in dominating fashion, as Stevenson’s win Saturday was 5 minutes ahead of the pack and 6 minutes ahead of the 2nd placer Sunday.
  • The Bel Air Summer Women’s Lacrosse League Junior Championship was decided in exciting fashion as Lauren Thomas scored the final three goals of the game to push Team Ketchup past Team Mustard, 7-5.
  • Havre De Grace native Bud Coakley passed away at age 90. Coakley starred on the courts and fields at Havre De Grace, Calvert Hall, and Washington College throughout the early 40s. Coakley then volunteered for service in WWII. In 1949, Coakley became a teacher and coach at Crisfield High School, ultimately coming back home to teach and coach at HdG and Edgewood High Schools.
  • Rocky Ramsland and Matthew McPhee, of the Aberdeen Dive Team, helped surprise reigning league champions, West Howard, of Mt Airy by a score of 51-34.
